Herrings in Greek
Ingredients:
400 grams of soaked mathias, 3 carrots, 1 parsley root, 2 onions, 1 red pepper, a can of tomatoes in brine, a heaping tablespoon of paprika powder, 3 tablespoons of wine vinegar, parsley, a teaspoon of mustard, pepper, oil.
How to make Greek herring?
- Heat the oil in a frying pan, fry the chopped onion, add the coarsely grated carrots, parsley and finely diced peppers, fry for a few more minutes, stirring often, season with paprika and pepper, mix, pour the tomatoes and stew everything for about 10 minutes.
- Add mustard and vinegar to the sauce, as well as chopped parsley, mix everything again.
- Mix the cooled sauce with the chopped herrings. Transfer to a bowl and refrigerate for a few hours for the flavors to meld.
Tip: the salad can also be seasoned with a pinch of cinnamon.
