Traditional herring with onion

Ingredients:

  • 400 g of herring fillets a'la matias
  • 2 white onions
  • 3-4 bay leaves
  • 3-4 balls of allspice
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • vegetable oil

A method of preparing:

Peel the onion and cut into feathers, salt and wait until it softens, add to herring together with allspice and bay leaves. Season with salt and black pepper. Transfer to a jar and pour over the oil so that it covers the herrings. Store in the refrigerator. They are best on the second or third day, when the flavors meld.
